Houston, You Have a Problem... (and so does Tennessee and Jacksonvile)

The second wave of free agency has begun and the Colts patched up their biggest area of need. The Colts added free agent pass rusher Justin Houston yesterday afternoon on a two-year deal worth $24 million. The Colts are finally making their splashes in free agency and adding one of the better rushers in the league on a smart, short-term deal was a great move, in my opinion.

Houston has only ever played outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme, but in Indy he will make the transition to defensive end in a 4-3. Per Pro Football Focus, Houston was the 14th ranked edge defender in the league in 2018 and entering his age 30 season, he should make a massive impact as a pass rusher for the Colts in 2019. He had 9 sacks last season and averages just shy of 10 sacks a year for his career with 22 coming in 2014.

This signing also allows the Colts to have two of the best pass rushers of the past decade in the same room (Robert Mathis and Justin Houston) to help develop the young guys such as Kemoko Turay, Al-Quadin Muhammad, and Tyquan Lewis. This move should allow the Colts to have better production this season while helping build their talent up for the future. Plus it's nice to not have to worry about him sacking our guy anymore.
