Jacoby Brissett was a name I feared I would be saying negatively too many times after Andrew Luck’s retirement shocked the world. I was worried about turnovers and about the possibility of him not living up to the player that Luck was. Well, I am eating my words right now – gladly so! Brissett has turned himself into a top ten quarterback in this league. According to the National Football League, Brissett was not only the best quarterback, but the best offensive player on the field out of all the AFC this week. That is right, better than the old man who plays for the Patriots; the one whose name shall not be spoken. Brissett was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for week seven as he wreaked havoc on the Houston Texans defense.

The Colts’ quarterback scorched the divisional rival Texans. He had 326 passing yards, four touchdowns through the air, and a passer rating of 126.7. All of these were career highs. Outside of a mishandled snap, Brissett was immaculate against the Texans. He has been incredible all season. He has fourteen passing touchdowns so far and has the fourth most passing touchdowns behind Patrick Mahomes, Matt Ryan, and Russell Wilson; all of whom have fifteen. Those fourteen touchdowns come against just three interceptions. He is on track to end the year with thirty-seven touchdowns, eight picks, and 3,700 passing yards. Brissett has the Colts as an actual contender and it is fun to watch.

I am looking forward to continue watching Brissett go to work this season. He has a chance to take the Colts extremely far. He has erased all of my doubt and he should have erased yours as well. Congratulations Jacoby Brissett on being named AFC Offensive Player of the Week!
