A lot of good came out of Sunday night’s Indianapolis Colts victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. It was awesome, but seeing as football is the violent sport that it is, the Colts were unable to escape the game without a major injury. #Colts defensive end, Kemoko Turay, will be missing the rest of the season with a broken ankle.

His ankle was broken in the fourth quarter. It was on one of the many plays that the Colts defensive front had been in the face of Chief’s quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Turay had to be carted off the field. This is unfortunate news for Turay as he was having a good start to his second year in the NFL. He is ending the season with five combined tackles, 1.5 sacks, and one forced fumble through four games played. The Colts defense is already hammered with injuries and yet again the Colts will have to continue their “Next Man Up” mentality. I wish you a quick recovery and look forward to seeing you on the field again next year Mr. Turay.

In some better news, Colts starting linebacker Darius Leonard announced on his Instagram page that he has cleared the concussion protocol and is returning from injury. He began to show symptoms of a concussion after the Tennessee Titans game and ended up missing the next three games. The 2018 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year will have two weeks to get back into game shape as the Colts are entering their bye week. Barring any type of set back Leonard should be back for the divisional game against the Houston Texans in week seven.

The injury bug continues to bite the Colts, but luckily the team has bonded and continued to fight through the constant injuries. The “Next Man Up” and the “1-0” mentality has really helped this team continue to produce. You can thank General Manager Chris Ballard and Head Coach Frank Reich for instilling that into this team. Now, as the Colts head into the bye week they will have plenty of time for players to get healthy.
